The soft starter protects against the unfavorable phenomena of current surge and torque surge. A current surge is characterized by a sudden increase in current (with a simultaneous decrease in voltage), which may damage the installation and electrical devices supplied from this circuit. Mechanical shock applies to drive systems, where dynamic jerking of moving parts may damage them (e.g. breaking of transport belts). The soft starter devices ensure a smooth start and stop of these systems, eliminating the occurrence of unfavorable phenomena.
