DC motors come in many variants: series, series-shunt, or BLDC motors and stepper motors popular in smaller machines. They usually consist of a stator (wound or with permanent magnets) and a commutator rotor. Voltage is applied to the rotor through the brushes, causing the rotor to rotate. The most popular DC motor manufacturers are: Baumüller, Mitsubishi, Siemens, Indramat and Fanuc.
